An Evening at The Fold, Madras

An Evening at The Fold, Madras

We recently hosted an intimate gathering at The Fold, Madras—designed not as a structured event, but as a relaxed, open experience. The intention was simple: to bring together individuals who share a genuine appreciation for handwoven textiles, thoughtful design, and meaningful cultural dialogue.

This evening came together with the wonderful support of Glass Box PR, whose thoughtful collaboration helped translate our vision into a warm and seamless experience.

The Capsule

For the evening, we presented a carefully curated capsule of Neela by Anu Vardhan Kanjivaram sarees. Rather than showcasing an expansive collection, the edit was intentionally concise—allowing each saree the space to be seen, felt, and understood on its own terms.

The focus remained on the essence of the craft: the quality of the weave, the richness of the material, and the intricacy of the handwork. Guests were encouraged to slow down, engage with the textiles, and spend time with each piece—creating a more thoughtful and immersive interaction.

The sarees were displayed in a way that felt organic to the space, shifting the experience away from conventional retail and towards conversation and connection. Visitors could touch the fabric, ask questions, and gain insight into the process and people behind every weave.

The Space at The Fold

The Fold, Madras offered an environment that naturally complemented this approach. The space allowed for ease and movement, encouraging guests to explore without formality. It functioned as an experience centre—where textiles, people, and conversations coexisted effortlessly.

Friends of the brand, long-time patrons, and new visitors flowed through the evening. Conversations moved gently between craft traditions, personal stories, and shared memories around sarees and handloom—unhurried and sincere.

Music by Nivi & Kiran

Adding another layer to the evening were live performances by Nivi and Kiran. Their music blended seamlessly into the atmosphere, not as a pause or focal point, but as a natural extension of the gathering itself.

Their voices brought warmth and familiarity, creating a calm rhythm that allowed the evening to unfold organically—without a fixed structure or agenda.

Why We Hosted This

This gathering was about creating space—to slow down, to listen, and to engage without pressure. Rather than a traditional showcase or pop-up, we wanted the experience to feel personal and approachable, mirroring how we think about craft and how Neela is meant to be experienced.

It allowed us to present our work in a setting that encouraged conversation, curiosity, and time—elements essential to truly understanding handwoven textiles.

In Reflection

The evening at The Fold served as a gentle reminder that meaningful engagement doesn’t require scale or spectacle. Sometimes, a smaller, thoughtfully curated space is enough to bring people together and allow the work to speak for itself.

That was the intention behind this gathering—and it’s an approach we look forward to building on in the future, with the continued support of Glass Box PR.
